KLMC conducts awareness workshops across the arid and semiarid areas in order to enhance better collaboration between the livestock producers,traders and service providers. The livestock traders and producers are trained on entrepreneurship skills, financial management and transactions, Animal health, advocacy skills, organizational
management, legal aid and value addition.
MILK VALUE ADDITION
A lot of milk in the arid areas goes wasted especially during the wet seasons of the year due to poor handling and storage process. Women do the main milk business in every arid district and are faced with lot of difficulties in making any meaningful gains out of the business. In order to minimize losses and prolong milk shelf life KLMC has undertaken some training on Value addition and clean milk production process for women groups and linked some to outlet market like Vital camel milk factory in Nanyuki for camel milk. Three milk sellers groups were so far trained at Isiolo and Kullamawe. Later after the training KLMC constructed a milk cooling plant for the trained women group in kullamawe.
