QUALITY ASSURANCE FOR LIVESTOCK AND THEIR PRODUCTS

KLMC is advocating for the creation of disease free zones in Arid and semi arid areas in order to promote export of livestock and its product.

To achieve this, KLMC is training producers on better husbandry practices, health, disease surveillance and control. Supporting and training women groups that are involved in the primary processing of skins, and milk selling on value addition and prolonging milk shelve life.

Thirteen (13) milk and hides/skins groups supported by KLMC with some seed funds and trainings as pilot program same groups are linked to external markets to sell their product.

Lobbying and Advocacy

Camel KLMC has been in the forefront in advocating for the rights of pastoralists and negotiating for better policies in the ASAL areas. Moreover, KLMC is involved in the advocacy for better infrastructure development for the pastoral areas to ease market access, organizing pastoralist gathering every year (pastoralist week) with other partners, facilitating livestock related policy review, beef value chain study, participates and represents pastoralist in all livestock related forums and research.
